The win I wanted to share this week has been my success in streamlining and improving my decision-making process when choosing privacy tools.
My issue for a long time has been deciding between different privacy tools, especially if all the options have something interesting to offer. Because of this, I have tried finding new discussions and opinions, even though they rarely give me new insights as I have already done my research on them. As a result, I have often been jumping from one tool to the next when I feel particularly convinced by one of them. But this doesnโt lead to long-lasting satisfaction, because I will eventually change my mind again.
So, instead of all this, I have focused on trying to ask myself very specific questions about what I actually want from this privacy tool; what are my requirements, do I need to compromise somewhere, or maybe there are some things that Iโm not willing to compromise because of my personal values. As a consequence, I have been able to make decisions that Iโm now feeling much more content with, as I know Iโm choosing the best tool for my specific circumstances.
Some examples include switching to Zen Browser and Cromite, using a mix of Accrescent, Google Play and Obtainium to install apps on Android, and continuing to use Proton Mail instead of switching to Tuta.
