Why is Non-Canadian VPN Server Seen as Canadian?

Hello,
I use Windscribe free account with only one server in Turkey.
YouTube Premium sees Turkish VPN server as Canadian.
Changing location in menu does not work because currency still remains Canadian.
Why would YouTube detect the server as Canadian?

Only Google could answer your question. Perhaps a misconfiguration or something idk. As long as your ip address is hidden, the VPN provider has served it’s purpose and you don’t have a reason to worry.

This has happened to me before with Proton VPN, it mostly happens on Google websites. The reasoning behind it is (AFIAK) if multiple users from one IP sign-up to a Google account and set the location to one that differs from the country of the IP Address, Google will assume that is where you are based.

Plus, if you are using YouTube Premium you have to be signed in, if your Google account was created on a Canadian IP Address or you set it as your location, Google will think you are in Canada no matter what your IP Address is.

Hope this helps and welcome to the community :slightly_smiling_face:

My country is not Canada, nor Turkey (which I am trying to make it as if it is). I tried different servers in different countries without being logged in and currency changed accordingly.
