What phone case do you use?

I know we’re privacy focused round here, but seeing as there is high likelihood that most of us are using iPhones or Pixels, I figured this could be a neat post to source opinions on the phone cases we like using.

I use a Pixel 6 and I’ve gotten two phone cases so far.

The Crave Slim Guard was the first case I got which was good and got the job done.

Around Christmas time I wanted to mix it up with a new case since I plan on hanging on to my phone for a long time. I asked for the Caseology Parallax. It’s got a neat design on the back but has start staining a little with my denim jeans.

What phone case do you use?

Oooo very personal preference! I feel like a case reveals a lot about who a person is (privacy risk!!)

I exclusive buy Pela they’re compostable cases and I really enjoy the vibe. On the pricier end, but it’s worth the price for one less plastic item in my life. Just don’t buy the “liquid screen protector” - I’m convinced these things are a scam :joy:

Maybe a fan boy? This is my third Spigen case. This metal frame and minimalist kick stand got me to spend the $2 extra…

I have a Rhinoshield clear case. They’re honestly quite expensive, but it is a solid case. Then I just slap a bunch of stickers on it to er, ‘customize’ it.

The what now.

I first tested this form of case out when I was assigned a work phone for piece of mind. Not much I can do since it’s managed by our IT admin but I figured at least I could then flip it face down and feel like the rear camera wasn’t staring at me.

Surprisingly durable for the price. Ended up getting one for my own phone and have enjoyed it. Lasted for years despite being less than $20 (replaced the phone before I replaced the case). I think the first one I bought only set me back $12 at the time. One if those generic designs sold by many vendors via Amazon. Slider has also served to protect my camera lens from many a dastardly fall. No regrets, would definitely buy again.

I’ll be honest, right now I don’t use a case. I thought I’d try a different brand (Spigen was sold out), which was a bad idea. The case was cheap, and it kinda fell apart. I never got around to buying a new one. I don’t tend to drop my phone, and I know enough about repairs, where I’m confidant enough to fix it. So it’s not really a huge priority. I am using a Spigen screen protector, though.

Should note, I tend to buy my devices from the used market. So maybe if I purchased it “new”, at full price, that might change…

I got this case, usually I buy more rugged designed cases because I don’t want my phone to break if I drop it. It kinda sucks with Android phones they don’t really have the massive selection available like iPhones do.

My usual first pick is Spigen but I went with a dbrand last time around. Great grip while still being able to slide into your pocket but I find the skin I got feels cheap. Idk maybe others, like leather, are better.

I have the most boring answer…Apple MagSafe Clear case…

Bought it as an interim case until I chose something else, that was a year and half ago. Guess I’m keeping the boring option

I have a cheap case from AliExpress that has a sliding mechanism to cover the rear cameras. I found this to be useful in a lot of ways.

I’ve had good experiences with Crave, Spigen, and Caseology. I’m using a Crave right now, but NGL, I’m tempted to grab one of those Pela cases. They have a couple designs that I really like.

A user who wishes to remain anonymous DMd this to me on the forum: Pela-Case: BUSTED!!! - YouTube

I haven’t had the time to watch it yet but just relaying their complaints with Pela. (Sending this from a phone with a Pela case on it)

I’ll need to watch at some point and decide if it’s anything legit or not.

I haven’t really used a case for a few years at this point. I just wanna see the back of the phone and feel it. But before that I mostly used cases by otterbox (I think it’s called that?). Still have it on my previous phone I use for other stuff and after 3 years it is holding very well.

The video actually looks reputable. I can’t validate it because the science stuff isn’t my expertise, but I trust it compared to other science content I watch. Shame that Pela doesn’t seem to have that much benefit, but also seems to indicate that most phone cases are similarly biodegradable.

Welcome @Yahhas my phones usually fail from cracked screens and or failed USB ports.

What’s funny is the old Samsung S5 would pop apart, you could just put it back together after it spilled its guts and it would just work. I wouldn’t hit it with a Nokia…
I guess number three failure is a bad battery.

Pixel 6 Pro first one broken screen on delivery. Returned and replaced.
Pixel 4 cracked front and back glass, no battery level indication.
Pixel 3 cracked front and back glass, no charge from the USB port.
Pixel 2, bad battery, lived in a case.
S7 a neighbors dog ate it, cracked screen in the case.
S5 went for a swim.

99.99% people are talking about pixels and I am silent here :zipper_mouth_face::zipper_mouth_face::stuck_out_tongue:

I had a Pela case on my Pixel 7 for only a couple months before the fit loosened, making it so the volume buttons on the case didn’t always hit the actual volume buttons.

Compostable or not, it’s not very green to make a case that lasts a few months. I’m assuming the fit depends on model, but overall it felt like a QC or general design issue.

The Spigen case I bought to replace it has been amazing and was $13.

Lol, well what do you use? I outed myself as an iPhone user with a (gasp!) Apple brand case. Surely your phone/case choice can’t be less cool than that :stuck_out_tongue:

I also have the Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe. I managed snagged it at significantly lower price than the RRP. It does its job, but personally, find it a bit overpriced for what it is.
