Many RSS feeds don’t play the audio directly from what I know, but many have links to either direct audio or a blog post with the audio.

If you are looking for a good FOSS podcast solution, try AntennaPod. https://antennapod.org/

You can add anything in Apple Podcasts by search, or add by the podcast’s RSS feed URL.

btw – I am on a Google Pixel 3A with stock Android.

Thanks for the recommendation! It immediately replaced my long-time podcast app, Podcast Addict. I did like that app, but I think AntennaPod also will work great and I’m glad to have a FOSS app to keep around for a function I don’t use all the time.

If you are on Linux (or Android and want to use termux for some reason), Newsboat supports podcasts.

I use iOS unfortunately, so can’t use. But Antenna-pod looks so cool.

You can check out Podverse. It’s pretty good and open source too.
