Hi. After the latest TOR Browser update (to version 12.5.6), Windows Defender flags the tor.exe file as a Trojan malware and advises removing it. I did not have this issue in any prior releases, only this last one. There is a discussion going on the TOR Project forum, but I wanted to know if anyone here is going through the same issue and if there is any know solution as of yet?

Hello!
On my end, I cannot confirm that since I don’t use the Tor Browser and I use Fedora but seems like most people using Windows and Tor got this problem.
The Solution? When I’ve used Windows, I think you can whitelist Tor, maybe? I think the Tor Project could do nothing.
Microsoft has a responsability here so they should fix this problem ASAP.

Did some digging in the TOR Project forum and apparently the 32-bit version has no issues. Installed it and can confirm this is the case. The issue is most probably a false flag. Will continue to monitor and news releases closely and update this discussion accordingly for anyone who is interested.
