There are two layers to this I think:
- Ads as an annoyance/distraction/tool for manipulation
- Ads as a vector for tracking users/data harvesting
If #1 was the only issue, I’d be okay with an ‘acceptable ads’ approach. But as long as #2 is true, I will continue blocking ads aggressively.
(edit: to be clear, I’m talking about the concept of ‘acceptable ads’ in general as a concept, not any specific implementation, the devil is in the details)
