This Is What a Digital Coup Looks Like | Carole Cadwalladr | TED

UK investigative reporter on the overwhelming nature of data surveillance yet our ability to join together to fight for our data rights

I don’t know that I would entirely call this bad news, but thought the privacy community would be interested in this TED talk by UK journalist Carole Cadwallader posted a few days ago focusing on tech/political data surveillance and how we can fight for our digital rights.

She was the reporter who broke the Cambridge Analytica story and also single-handedly discovered that Nazis had manipulated Google search suggestions (which Google quickly fixed).

I’m only able to check this forum periodically but thought the community would appreciate this bold statement.

…The template did not come up for me?? I had to view the video to follow it…

This was an interesting watch. Thanks for sharing.

“We can’t fight it if we can’t see it. And we can’t see it if we don’t name it”
“Privacy is power” Absolute chills.
“Individuals are stronger than institutions” Couldn’t have said it any better.
