Thinking about ditching GrapheneOS to get better hardware

I will just quote the DivestOS developer because I think he explained this well:

Removing apps with ADB is putting your head in the sand when you still have a bunch of daemons running in the background.

If it is your only option, then fine, but it overlooks a lot.

The reason why GrapheneOS a has network permission for apps is because Datura Firewall, RethinkDNS, NetGuard, etc. are all only blocking direct internet access and are leaky. It’s better than nothing, but it shouldn’t be relied on.

I have a Pixel 6a, which is worse in connectivity and heat management because of the smaller size and less efficient processor. While I have noticed that the the Exynos modems are garbage (which is what’s inside our Pixel devices), it’s still good enough, and it more depends on your carrier. I might get around 700 Mb/s on my Pixel with 5G and 800-900 on Snapdragon devices from my apartment, but when the connection is already so fast, it doesn’t matter to me at all.

As for the heat, I use a case on my phone, so I never notice it.

Do it, there is no better OS to do it on than GrapheneOS. If you need it, then just do it. Google isn’t as evil as everyone pretends, and Apple is just as bad. Just know that you’re trusting Google with your location data.
