The Privacy Dad: Privacy Tools Are Not Worth the Hassle

You can’t regain privacy lost without removing all the technology. Thats the nature of digital technology. It records things and you voluntarily share that data. Don’t like it? Limit the use of that technology. You are falling into a trap thinking some legislation can save you. That train left a long time ago. Also Im not conflating secrecy with privacy. They are different degrees of the same thing. You may be sharing info here but you didnt tell me your name. Are you keeping your name secret or private? Whats the difference? The difference is in the threat model. Maybe I do want to be a ghost. Who gets to decide who’s threat model is more valid than others? Only I can decide what is an appropriate threat model for me and chances are most governments, corporations, and people will generally disagree with what I want because my privacy needs are generally always in conflict with the needs of those entities.
