Switzerland narrowly approves plan for digital ID

As the Austrian ID was mentioned several time, I want to share something about the “ID Austria”, as it is called in Austria.

Dann Servus mein Freund

If you are a teacher you have to have the ID Austria, otherwise you’re being fired

You should tell the whole story of it.
All things from grades to students, lessons and so on are already collected digitally, even before the ID-Austria. In two programms WebUntis and Sokrates.
WebUntis is mehh okay, you could argue that it lacks of FIDO2, but its supports TOTP as MFA.

Now Sokrates, here it comes … it is a insecure shitty mess. Its ugly, insecure and has many issues.
Therefore the vienne (not all states in austria) forced all sokrates logins via ID-Austria, to prevent any hacked accounts through sokrates, since its more secure than sokrates.

Second of all they can force teachers to do so, since teachers are employed by the goverment.
This is like you are working for a company and your boss uses for your whole company NextCloud and now you are saying Nextcloud is too insecure (lack of E2EE) and you are now trying to use Proton Drive. Yes, your boss can force you to use NextCloud and prevent you from using Proton Drive for the work and if you don’t do it, you get in trouble.

If you are a farmer and you want to get some grants/sponsorship (what every the right word is) from the government/EU (which most of the farmers need in order to survive) you need the ID Austria to fill out the forms online

No idea about that.

Many schoolkids have been encouraged to get the ID Austria (it’s needed to get some things for free).

No, false.
There is the educard (student ID) and with it you can get all things for free.

Right now the passport, your driving licence and whatever data we don’t know is merged within the ID Austria, along with lots of biometric data.

And all of this data is already in a cloud.

So, just wondering how people still think, the ID and any centralized data are no problem.

This data is already centralized or how do you think the police and the authorities get to your data? Through books?

Edit:
BTW.
ID-Austria has several official and public white-papers on what it does and how it works. If you look through it you will see that it is “just” an IDP.
