As the Austrian ID was mentioned several time, I want to share something about the “ID Austria”, as it is called in Austria.
As an Austrian myself, I am very much concerned about the “ID Austria”. At the moment it is still voluntarily, but there are also areas very you have to have it. If you are a teacher you have to have the ID Austria, otherwise you’re being fired (it already happened to the teachers who had been against it). If you are a farmer and you want to get some grants/sponsorship (what every the right word is) from the government/EU (which most of the farmers need in order to survive) you need the ID Austria to fill out the forms online. If you work for the government you need the ID Austria. These are the three main areas where it is enforced at the moment. You have the possibility to say no, but then you are without a job.
Right now there a discussions about an age limit for social media: ID Austria will be used for this. Many schoolkids have been encouraged to get the ID Austria (it’s needed to get some things for free).
Right now the passport, your driving licence and whatever data we don’t know is merged within the ID Austria, along with lots of biometric data.
We also have an electronic vaccination register in Austria since more than one year, where non of us citizens are able to look into. But all the governments and authorities can access it.
So, just wondering how people still think, the ID and any centralized data are no problem. It is definitely the biggest threat of freedom and life as we knew it and we should resist as long as we can.
