This will get a bit negative but don’t think the world is ending. Join a activist group and speak up about privacy laws and things will change. I hope to create a discussion about where Sweden should lean during the recession of privacy.

Mullvad VPN incident
I have recently learned that Sweden, while topping the charts journalist safety, isn’t as friendly to the rest of us. When learning about Mullvads VPN I also heard about their clash with the police. I didn’t read to into it so I advice you to read about it on your own first so I don’t spread false information. So what i heard was that the police wanted to seize all the data Mullvad had on their VPN users, unfortunately for the police, Mullvad didn’t have access the data they wanted so they called of their operation.
Biometrics and Chat control
Another privacy concern is the police authority to forcefully use Face-ID or fingerprints to unlock your device. Something I oppose harshly. It’s an invasion of my body and privacy. To add insult to injury almost all political parties, except The Centerparty and The Swedendemocrats(national party), stand behind the Chat Control law discussed in EU, brought forward by Sweden.
BankID
Visa and MasterCard oligopoly, ever heard of BankID? BankID is a 2FA app brought to us by all the Swedish banks used to identify users no matter what bank you use. Now how is this managed? Well the banks can remove your BankID without reason and because everything is used with BankID it’s like you’re dead. No access to your bank, no access to money. There are real life examples of people losing their BankID for SIX MONTHS.
Ending on a positive note
Sweden have a really good open-audit grundlag(constitution?) granting us the ability to audit the government (obviously not the military). This law is great for counteracting corruption as seen many times when politicians use tax money to cover their private expenses.
