I guess we’ll find out what data they stole when they leak it!

I have doubts this will actually result in any changes Reddit makes, so most likely we’ll see this data leak and Reddit just move on, like most breaches.

From what I understand about API - application program interface… that connect apps together… and understanding reddit’s goin public and trying monetize thier platform and doing that thru paywalling thier app…

If there’s any gravity to this particular hacking group’s extortive tactic… to lay an ultimatum out there on Reddit demanding changes to their API operational prerogrative… it does have an appeal of a Robin Hood type of heroism to keep a platform open… yet still I’m not ever for unethical hacking and ransoming somebody to force change…

There are many ethical ways to leverage change agency for reversion to causes one cares about ( as in this context i am pro-private and secure personal opsec, behavioral modification, cyber choices, etc)…

imho, one of the most basic simple tactics of leveraging influence and winning without ever having to directly engage the opposing force of any supression… and the idea hit me, in this zeitgeist… is the fact that most people want to be coming overnight millionaire ( think of Zuckerberg’s story or many other people that are super young and catapulted into billions of dollars or ridiculous amounts of success as the world would measure it , etc.) …and in the cyber world of today… just think what the process of raising capital does? It builds influence awareness…Plus the real hot new appeal it has too… why am i wasting typing saying this?

  1. imho… even the Investor class wealthy & ultra wealthy are now sick of the invasion of privacy… and justcl my estimations of things I’ve been right on before that have done me well in an enterprise… I clearly think right now is the time to strike for anybody wanting to raise money get the attention of investors and get behind open source projects and find out ways to still make the privacy products -we all care about in the open source community -well staffed and well-regarded …and yet maintain the level of free use ( such as tutanota features)… and then also have options to monetize it so that there can be a revenue stream… and that’s not to say that even if the projects never go anywhere to profit…and lose money that the people investing supporting all the hard-working developers on the open source projects we really care the most about … will likely be left the happier they wasted their money on developing privacy for the sake of humanity…

Again it’s just one of my crazy ideas …but I have done very well in the past on a couple things… even while losing big on a few as well along the way… but I like to try new ideas and so forth. so I’m not saying any this will work but if there’s an impassioned person out here on tgis forum that’s reading this… I truly think, at this time and for the next receivable six months… this is the real hack to get into… not ransom or try to be extortive or force people etc…

I’m definitely not the first person probably think about this

It is amazing what people will endure rather than depart wut is familiar. Also there are those what thrive on anger and drama. Why stick wi Reddit when Mastodon is RIGHT THERE?
