Recommendations for Privacy Screen Protectors

I’m buying a Pixel 8, on which I plan to run GrapheneOS, and I am in need of a privacy screen protector (i.e. made from polarised glass or glass with a polarised coating, so it can only be viewed straight-on).

However, Amazon is chock-full of crappy off-brands and my local shops will certainly not stock this sort of product. So, does anyone have any recommendations?

UPDATE: I bought a hydrogel screen protector from Amazon, but it blocked the fingerprint reader and the viewing angles were too wide for it to be effective. Still looking for suggestions.

I agree and in need of a better screen protector. I got a screen protector recently an I am in pain of this issue here where there’s some serious distortion in EVEN at normal angles I hold my phone into as seen here.

Looking at Amazon as well, even Germany it’s filled with those chinese brands or something. I have asked around if this distortion is normal and I got answers varying from “Not enough experience to say” to “No I don’t have this on my own”. Thinking whenever it’s an application problem, I am in doubt as well so here I am looking for a new one too. Bummer as this one is also matte which makes it less glaring!
I may try getting an expert to apply it for me. However I doubt this may solve it so that’s why I’m open to more options.
I prefer if it’s matte but it’s not necessary.

I’ve been thinking about this issue.

The other reason you could be having this issue is if there is more gap between the literal touch screen on top and the inside panel. So, this gap or thickness of the screen itself along with light refracting coupled with the thickness of the screen protector itself could all be culprits.

But this is conjecture still.

Update 1 and will give an update 2:
I Peeled off the Plastic seal to see

Did not resolve I still see distortion.
as for Update 2… Time for my other phone again.

Sometimes with stuff like this, trail and error is the only way. This would all depend on how much time and money you want to spend.

I do not use screen protectors because I do very little on my iPhone 13 mini as it is plus, its a small device so I am not worried. Also, my threat model doesn’t warrant this.

Sorry, I tried but I’m all out of ideas.

update 2 is

I realized that this screen protector plastic I got.
It’s a dual layer one, it’s basically a screen protector with the film that does the privacy on top, Likely why I’m seeing this effect
I have a video for more clarity but just for photo reference

Ah, there you do. I know it has something to do with the light effect and the protector itself.
