I’ve recently discovered that /e/ OS has an official GSI version (which is the only kind of OS that runs on my phone), but the docs advise me to not use it as my daily driver. I’m really curious why. (I will still install it, because either way it’s better than a random build from 3 years ago, but I just want to know)
(just made it. The main problem is that no other OSs support my phone. POCO M5. LineageOS literally supports every other POCO (i, think), but not mine)
Since we’re in the spooky season, I’d love to hear about your all-time favorite horror media—whether it’s movies, books, or games—that have left a lasting impression on you. Do you have any recommendations?
Currently, my top picks are the Southern Reach series and House of Leaves for books. For movies, I really enjoyed The Blair Witch Project (only the original), The Witch (2015), The Lighthouse, and Midsommar. As for games, I found the Amnesia series, Silent Hill 2 remake, Dead Space,Soma,Outlast, and Still Wakes the Deep particularly engaging. Have you read, seen or played any of these? If not, I highly recommend them!
Any thoughts on the recent Bitwarden “controversy” with claims that they are moving away from open source? I read the article (https://www.phoronix.com/news/Bitwarden-Open-Source-Concerns) making the rounds, but I can’t tell if this is actually something to be worried about or if the concerns are overblown.
Hi Mr Henry Ever since I have switched to Google Pixels Do you think that custom roms are it’s saving grace for most power users since the new Tensor chips by TSMC are going to be more powerful than their Snapdragon equivalents especially the modems now I get why Calyx And choose to support them from the beginning due to Google releasing the Source Codes straight away during the first day their published I really wish google develops new custom Gpus instead of the same Mali ones that are also Used on Exynos And Mediatek devices and yes I won’t use my iPhone as my main device thanks for understanding
Henry, in one of your videos where you discussed your browser journey, you implied that it was likely that Brave could replace your need for multiple browsers in the future when they have implemented the “Forgetful Browsing” feature. Now, over a year later, with the feature available in Brave, it seems that this didn’t end up happening, and instead, you’ve been using Mullvad Browser for the more general browsing and Brave for sites where you need to log in. What reasons were behind this choice? One could argue that using Brave for everything could have been the simpler setup.
For Jonah: How has your experience been with Zen Browser, and would you recommend it to people who would be interested, even if it’s currently in Alpha? Also, how does it feel to be featured on their website? I’m also curious if it is the only browser you are using, or do you also use something like Mullvad Browser?
What are your thoughts on the recent decision to remove Russian maintainers from the Linux kernel? Do you believe this action could lead to a situation where the code contributed by these developers in the past might also need to be removed or scrutinized?
Henry and Techlore Team two questions if possible:
1: Do you think there could be a positive role for government funding of open source projects similar to how the U.S. government often sponsors research at universities through the National Science Foundation?

I sent a data deletion request (based on GDPR) to a company and they also replied, but they want an ID-Verification. What they can legally request to proof that I’m the actual owner of the account and/or I’m citizen of the EU.
Now here comes my problem: They want me to do this via an third party verificatior and after I read their privacy policy (from the third party), I saw “a few” red flags. So I don’t want to do it via the third party. And I think that it is more “dangerous” to carry out the check via a third party than to leave the data there.
In addition I have the right (at least in my country), to censor everything out of the id that is not necessary. What would be in an auto. process not really possible.
Now here comes my question: What should I do, if they decide to not delete my data without the id-verification with the third party? I would do the verification directly with the company via e-mail, but not with the third party. And I have the feeling that the support will not decide this and just send me a standardized answer, where they say I need to verify my id via the third party.

How to switch from WA to Signal? So my family and I all have Signal installed and are registered. My father is tech savvy and he also knows about the tracking and privacy stuff, but he has the altitude to say it doesn’t matter what he or we use at the end. My mother isn’t so tech savvy, but through my general interests in tech and privacy she also got a few impressions about privacy.
How should I try to approach my family to switch to signal, for the communication between us.
Hey, Henry, you forgot to lock the thread. Taking advantage of that I’ll ask what’s going on with the “Regular” badge? (who’s stealing it? is North Korea involved?)
