New to the forum

Hey everyone :waving_hand:

My privacy journey started about 2 years ago, but I have started to gain interest again recently so here I am.

I have done the Techlore SPA quiz ( Security, Privacy & Anonymity Quiz | Techlore SPA Test ) and got 142, which is stated to be ā€œBelow Averageā€, that means I still have much to do to improve my privacy and security in general.

What is your score everyone? Curious to know how I compare to others here

I get 246 points from 306.

The SPA is a funny gadget to let you know what you could improve. But you shouldn’t forget that it doesn’t have everything you could/should do and that it can’t 100% adapt to your threat-model.

Hello ! I feel like this quiz should be more promoted, it’s pretty cool.

Despite all my efforts since the beginning of the year, I only got 146, so below average too. The quiz is really well made to quickly assess what to improve. I guess deleting Google and ditching Windows are to be my next moves.

You are absolutely right. Each person has their own threat model.

Some of the points that are in the quiz are not in anybody’s interest to implement unless you have an extreme threat model like Edward Snowden (For an example taking your camera/mic of your phone)

But for me, I still have various weak points I need to work on; one is that I still use type one Android (That is filled with bloatware/trackers and badly written code from a Chinese manufacturer)… I mean, at least the phone was cheap

Hey Praline

I must say I had a very relatable feeling :joy:

I have been implementing whatever advice I hear from YouTube for a long time…

Yet, I still leave a lot of boxes unchecked in the quiz

Although a great number of them I really think I need to work on, while some I can’t imagine myself implementing as it is just too extreme for me.

Well some are a hassle for sure, or at least take time and preparation (and investment) to implement.

I don’t think I need them all either, but since I don’t like half-done things, I’ll probably do everything that is humanly possible over time.

On the same boat as you.

When I approach something, I desire to complete it until I say there is no more, or… Just give up on it.

It caught my eye seeing someone alike me, or at least I think is. Wish you the best on your journey and life in general.

251 for me. I could go higher but there are extreme things in the quiz like tearing a phone apart to remove the mic and camera.

Thanks ! I wish you the same as well.

251 is almost the max you can get, that’s 100+ score more than mine!

But I do agree, the quiz is a bit extreme in some contexts.

Its possible that no one in the entire forum can honestly get a max score. But who knows, maybe Edward Snowden follows Techlore

I’ve had a Pixel with GOS for two years and started my journey a couple before that. It takes time to work though the quiz. You’ll get there.

296/306, seems I’ve learned a lot here, no wonder I tend to feel confident in recommendations.

I’ve been around for quite some times now and I wasn’t aware of this quizz. Got a 196 out of 306n which is fine given my threat model.

I think that the keypoints in the privacy field are not about how to become a maximalist, but to stay informed and to know about the options and alternatives to GAFAM that some people are giving to us.
