I need a open source alternative to the app GPS Map Camera .
The alternative app should be able to:
- Stamp the name of the Location and co-ordinates of the place where the photo was taken. Even a manual location adding capability will do just fine.
- Add Latitude/Longitude, Date, UTC time stamp to the photo.
Reference output image desired: See Image
Help at the earliest would be much appreciated!
PS: I dont care about the metadata of the photo. I need the app to be able to stamp it on the photo, which when printed(on paper) would be visible to others.
Unfortunately I don’t know of any such apps, but many camera apps store the location in EXIF metadata. And, considering your display name, you could probably make a script that puts this metadata over the actual image yourself.
I would say try to harden the GPS Map Camera like if you can use it offline with something like NetGuard | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository or at least use a VPN.
I just found out that [Open Camera | f-droid.org] has the option to stamp photos with all sorts of data, including GPS.

You might want to check out Timemark Camera. It’s a professional GPS camera and timestamp camera that automatically stamps latitude, longitude, address, date, time, and weather info on each photo (you can toggle on or off those fields).
I’ve used both Timestamp Camera and GPS Map Camera. Then i switched to Timemark because my job required us to use it. It adds a tamper-proof timestamp on photos. Now I’m also using it for personal use. It has a clean interface, and it’s more reliable than any GPS camera I’ve ever used.
From what I read Timemark is widely used in construction photo documentation, inspection photo reports, or proof of delivery photos. If you ever need to organize or share your pictures with others, Timemark also supports team photo sharing. It collects stamped photos across your team members in the cloud, and you can sort by project, member, or date their.
They have an impressive 4.8+rating and over 10 million downloads on app stores, so you can trust it’s secure, stable, and well-maintained.
