I’ve noticed that just refreshing the connection is often enough to get through to reddit etc.
On the battery drain, there may be differences in how your phone calculates the battery usage. At least in some cases it attributes other apps’ battery usage to the VPN, just because that’s where the traffic is routed through. Not sure why it’s so low on IVPN though. Also, are you using DAITA or multi-hop? I noticed that especially DAITA seems to drain more power.
