We have officially rolled out our new exclusive club to become a Techlorian! I’ve seen some of you use this term and it really resonated with us, especially @Jonah We’re a small team of 3 who are all juggling multiple projects and doing everything we can to develop video content, resources & advocacy to build a safer internet that works in favor of everyone and becoming a Techlorian is one of the best ways to contribute to our mission!
When you support us, you’ll see the option to either become a Techlorian, or we still want to offer an option for people to support us in a non-recurring way (I know not everyone can or wants to commit to a subscription!)
While Patreon is pretty good at what it does, I fully understand people’s reservations with the platform. (I have many of my own)
Part of doing this is to continue improving services we’re able to offer people in-house to bring back some more ownership and control of our own communities and keep them resilient for years to come. This is why we cross-post our content on PeerTube, self-host this very open source forum, have a Signal community that we control, and utilize platforms like Mastodon where we can easily make what we do accessible to more people.
The nice perk is we have a lot of flexibility with this and we can personalize perks a lot more to our community We hope you enjoy it!
If you have an existing forum account, you can link it to Patreon under the Associated Accounts header on this page. Unfortunately, you must have 2FA disabled in order to access these settings. This is a Discourse limitation we’re unable to change. Once your accounts are linked you can re-enable 2FA without affecting the connection.
Edit: I believe it should also work simply if your forum email is the same as your Patreon email, which is also another workaround to avoid disabling 2FA. If this is not working for anyone please send a DM.
Just wanted to know if the Techlore and the SR signal groups are the same or are they different?
Also, i’m planning on setting up a Buy Me A Coffee / Ko-Fi account for my blog. I kinda chickened out earlier because of the amount of data Stripe said they’d be collecting. How’s your experience been setting up your Stripe payments?
It’s well! I really enjoy Stripe and we use it for a lot of things behind the scenes. We have the luxury of being a legal entity so Techlore has its own information that’s we’re able to use for things like Stripe to avoid most of the privacy concerns of creating the account.
And yep as @Rasta said SR and TL have their own groups Both fairly active!
No ETA, I learned after the first one that giving ETAs can just frustrate people as it almost always takes longer than any ETA I can give! But I’ll be pushing updates as progress is made!
The newest update is our new course platform is live, hosted by ourselves. And we’re in the process of migrating current Go Incognito students to it
I am happy to be a part of this amazing community, and as a long-time fan of Techlore, it made a lot of sense for me to show my support this way as well, so that you can continue to create fantastic content for everyone!
