Is Asahi Linux a good idea for me?

I have an M1 Mac Mini. I’ve tried using Asahi before, and I like it. I’m wondering if I should use it as my ‘daily driver’ operating system. The only downside I noticed is having no easy way to encrypt your drive.

It depends on what you use your computer for, but it’s still very unfinished software. According to the project, some pretty major things haven’t been implemented yet, like Thunderbolt or even just USB-3 over C, or the GPU and hardware video decode. It’ll also probably be buggy still (as alpha software is want to do).

Given you’ve tried it and seemed to be fine with it, there’s probably no harm in continuing to if you know what you’re doing. I wouldn’t daily drive it as is, though. At least not until it’s in a more completed state.
