Introducing, N0bleSix

Hi! I’m a new member here but have been following Techlore, as well as the Surveillance Report, for the last 2 months. I’ve been fixating on privacy and security related topics for the last 6 months.

I’ve gone through my Linux phase, browser hopping phase, and transitional phase into better habits across the internet.

I decided to finally join the forum as this community may be a huge help along my journey and help me to ensure that I’m making the choices that best fit my threat model and day-to-day life.

I hope you all are having a wonderful day and I can’t wait to meet some of you.

Thanks lol. For all my stupidity on the VPN stuff, I’ve enjoyed being involved here.

Don’t be discouraged, it isn’t stupidity, these are complicated topics, with learning curves. Even people who have been involved in the privacy space for years (myself included) have misunderstandings when it comes to VPNs, encrypted DNS, and encryption in general.

Encryption is a boring (in a good way!) topic, at this point.

As for VPNs / proxies, this resource by the guy who wrote the TLS standard is super neat: How to hide your IP address (it leaves out some of the recent efforts like MASQUE at IETF driven by Apple, Cloudflare, Mozilla, Google, Nokia and others).

For anonymity, a 8 part guide by mirimir published by iVPN are a great resource even after all these years: https://archive.is/0ZgjZ

(and of course, if you’re a visual learner, there’s a bunch of guidance on techlore, too)
