Hi, my name is Dan. I’m a masters student, and I recently came across techlore online. I’ve always been a bit of a nerd, but for a long time I’ve leaned more toward Apple tech as opposed to other types of tech.
Recently, I’ve been exploring more about digital minimalism. I am no longer on social media, save for reddit and youtube, and I have been working to decentralize my tech (use an ipod, digicam, camcorder, etc). I feel like privacy fits pretty well into this because I am trying to own my tech and not let it own me.
I am hoping to learn more about privacy, and tech in general. I want to become smarter about my online decisions, so I’m working to make the right decisions. Sometimes the privacy and security stuff makes me feel like I’m being a bit on the paranoid side, but I’d rather err on that side than have my data stolen haha. Also, I keep seeing stuff about “threat model”, and I’d love to learn what that means too because I am a little confused
