Has Telegram been compromised?

I’ve seen a few articles recently that talk about how the Chinese and Russian governments have abused Telegram’s API to access user data unencrypted.
What’s your thoughts, has telegram been compromised?

Compromised? Hard to say.
Trustworthy? I would argue hell no.

This topic has already been covered by Henry and Nathan in surveillance report 120 , so do check it out.
Telegram already doesn’t support e2ee by default for personal chats and there is not even an option for encryption in group chats.
From that itself i can say , assume whatever you write on telegram would be accessible to parties other than the intended recipient. Consider it as a public forum.
