TLDR:
Go Incognito Premium is being transitioned to an open source, self hosted environment. We are looking for new premium students to beta test it. And we are looking for any current premium students to help us test the transition workflow.
Go Incognito Premium has been a massive success, with overwhelming positivity from our students about the course. But we want to make it better!
One major area for improvement is our course hosting platform, Teachable. While Teachable has done a great job of delivering the course to our students in an overall polished platform—there are several limitations:
- While they support basic opt-outs (which we utilized) Teachable gives us limited control over the site. I reached out several times trying to get them to remove certain tracking parameters from the course, which they insisted was impossible to do. Some people have expressed concern over this, and we want to make sure we can properly deal with it.
- Teachable sometimes didn’t play nice with hardened browsers. (common complaint after going through the hardening Firefox lesson)
- Teachable is not open source nor hosted by ourselves
- Teachable is expensive! (We’ve been paying over $150/month)
@Jonah put in some fantastic work in moving us over to our brand new course hosting platform! We listened to a lot of your feedback and are looking forward to releasing it in closed beta. The platform is built on Moodle, an open source LMS that’s hosted by ourselves. We will now be processing transactions directly via Stripe without third parties, and we’ll be the core people in charge of non-payment user data.
We’ll be doing a closed beta for some active members of the Techlore community. If you’re someone active on the forum, leave a comment below this thread expressing interest. We’ll grant you free access to Go Incognito Premium via the new platform (which means you’ll also get access to V2 for free) and in exchange we just want to hear any feedback or issues you stumble on. We’re looking to have no more than 10 testers, so we’ll shut this down pretty quickly. This opportunity is open to current Go Incognito Premium students as well! We would love to test the automatic transition workflow we’ve developed too
Thank you everyone!
PS
Yes, the goal is for V2 to only be hosted on the new platform ![]()
