Gmail is adding a new security feature: 2FA on select settings, even when logged in

If you or someone you know is a user of Gmail, Google is adding a new security feature. If you wish to use features such as IMAP or account forwarding you’ll soon be required to use 2FA to enable it, even when you’re logged in.

It is currently being rolled out and is expected to be available to all Gmail users in about two weeks. Personally I think the feature is going to be useful and I can see various people with certain threat models using this, though I do hope that this is something that’s added to other Email services and not just exclusive to Goggle.
