Cautionary Tale - Locked Out of Proton Pass

I was only suggesting a CSV file backup because it can be imported into most any password manager. If I would have a catastrophic electronic failure, I’d be relieved to at least have a print-out of my logins and passwords. Obviously both items would need to be secured.

I wasn’t suggesting to not save to .CSV. Back when I used Lastpass (before all the breaches) I was locked-out for a week because of a configuration issue. I was able to find one device that was still logged-in and export to .CSV, and then used that .CSV until the problem was resolved. It was inconvenient, and you have to fend for yourself for encryption, but it was also a lifesaver.

I developed my backup strategy as a direct result of that experience.
