I am searching for the most reliable caller ID and spam/scam protection app.
Samsung phones come with built-in caller ID and spam protection via Hiya, which is decent at identifying spam calls but poor at detecting the probable names of unknown numbers calling.
On Pixel phones or via Google’s phone dialer app, there is Caller ID & spam protection, but based on my testing, it works slightly worse than Samsung-Hiya.
There are many other third-party options like Truecaller and Whoscall. Tested Truecaller extensively and it works good on Android but not so great on iOS. I have both iOS and Android devices that I want to protect. And I do receive many calls from unknown numbers, sometimes spam/scams, sometimes not. However, I often need to answer unknown calls, so knowing who’s calling me beforehand would be super useful. While Truecaller may seem ideal, there are many reports showing they upload contacts and add them to their database. Perhaps a Pixel phone running Graphene with contact scope could be a fix for this, but what about Samsung Galaxy phones and iPhones? I would appreciate it if you could recommend any reliable caller ID and spam protection solutions for Android and iOS devices that you’ve come across. Thanks!
