"As we wrote before, the CLOUD Act is a far-reaching, privacy-upending piece of legislation that will:
Enable foreign police to collect and wiretap people’s communications from U.S. companies, without obtaining a U.S. warrant.
Allow foreign nations to demand personal data stored in the United States, without prior review by a judge.
Allow the U.S. president to enter “executive agreements” that empower police in foreign nations that have weaker privacy laws than the United States to seize data in the United States while ignoring U.S. privacy laws.
Allow foreign police to collect someone’s data without notifying them about it.
Empower U.S. police to grab any data, regardless if it’s a U.S. person’s or not, no matter where it is stored.
There are way too many warrantless search loop holes.
Luckily Max Schrems has already said that NOYB will fight this agreement in court.
Thanks for sharing. This is the first I have visited NOYB
This is a crazy article 10 years for a case…
I heard of recent proposed US laws going after fake reviews, the cases would take so long the fly by night fake reviewers will be long gone before they will be prosecuted or fined.
Just the fact that US laws do not consider constitutional rights of non US citizen amazes me.
This article led me to.
" 17 Very Large Online Platforms (VLOPs) and 2 Very Large Online Search Engines (VLOSEs)"
"Strong protection of minors:
Platforms will have to redesign their systems to ensure a high level of privacy, security, and safety of minors;
Targeted advertising based on profiling towards children is no longer permitted;
Special risk assessments including for negative effects on mental health will have to be provided to the Commission 4 months after designation and made public at the latest a year later;
Platforms will have to redesign their services, including their interfaces, recommender systems, terms and conditions, to mitigate these risks."
Geolocation, age hacks are on the way. Set up Google accounts in Russia, American residents claim to be from California, and or the recently protected states, and a minor for every non age restricting account. Netherlands for the free Proton VPN.
