Best android browser for webapps?

I am looking for a browser to use exclusively for web-apps on android. I want the web-aspp to be fullscreen as if they where native apps (Firefox does this), instead of showing the browser bar. I do not want to use firefox because It doesn’t seem to work with a few pages, plus even if firefox works it would be cool to compile a list of browsers that work for this.

I have tried:

  • firefox: it works as intended :white_check_mark:
  • Native Alpha: it works but it uses the default android browser so it is sloooooooowww:yellow_square:
  • Brave: has titlebar:cross_mark:
  • Cromite has titlebar:cross_mark:

Of course the more protected the browser is, the better. But I would rather have control over things like adblock because some app will just require no adblock

You can do two thing:

  • Install the App as PWA
  • Create a Shortcut to the homescreen

If your Website doesn’t support PWAs (most don’t) you will just create a shortcut on the homescreen to the website.
I suspect that your problem is that some of your website do not support PWAs and you create a shortcut instead of installing the PWA.

On GrapheneOS and CalyxOS I used the preinstalled Chromium based browser for web apps.

I installed Brave and set Brave as the default Browser, so it’s used to open links by default and for general browsing in general.

Firefox as a browser for web apps works too. If your version of Android and therefore the build in browser doesn’t get updates any more, Firefox is definitely the better option for web apps.

I’ve used Hermit before and found it works pretty well: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chimbori.hermitcrab

Yeah, this is what I expect when using web apps. If they support it as a PWA, then it will look like a regular app. If not, then it’s a shortcut. I don’t know of any apps that will set the format a certain way, but it seems like there are a couple.
