Any idea what "Firefox CLA" is?

I was poking around in the files of the Firefox installation on my laptop. I noticed strange JSON files that seems to contain what look like affiliate links.

These are all located under ~/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox/dyau7n1d.default/storage/permanent/chrome/idb/3870112724rsegmnoittet-es.files.

Here is an example of one of the URLs linked:

https://mozillacla.ampxdirect.com/wayfair?sub1=wayfair&sub2=us&custom-data=3878&ctag=319104999us3878%YYYYMMDDHH%

These are the extensions I am running:

What are these files? Are they for injecting affiliate links into my browser?

A couple of questions:

  • where do you notice Firefox CLA? You mean Mozilla CLA?

Two ideas:

  • affiliate included in snap package
  • blocked addresses by your ad blockers

Have you done some testing? I can only guess.

  • What happens if you create an empty browser profile (about:profiles)? Do you still see this JSONs in the new folder?
  • What if you deinstall firefox snap and use the apt version?

I bet it is a ad server for Firefox’s Reccomend Extensions While You Browser setting
