2FA app recommandations

you know all this issue about Raivo being bought out so is it safe to now use it? If now what alternatives? Should I switch back to Microsoft. And maybe some free app that also has Apple Watch support thanks

It is.

I have also modified the title of this topic since you wanted an 2FA app and not a password manager.

Someone I read in discord server said that it hadn’t been updated for long time. Also you have any better looking UI?

FreeOTP by Red Hat, maybe?

I am considering https://freeotp.github.io/ native Icloud Keychain and Proton Pass. I dont believe it is good to put your 2fa tokens into Bitwarden, that defeats the purporse of 2fa. That is my two cents.

Oh i forgot about that cause i use a vaultwarden server

What’s wrong with Google or Microsoft authentication

Proton pass has paid totp:(((

Closed-source + owned by Big Tech companies (Google and Microsoft) + Not very privacy-respecting companies + Trackers in app (only for Microsoft) + Cloud-based and finally Permissions that aren’t needed in app like location.

I believe Strongbox (iOS Keepass client) has TOTP support in free version, according to the features list on their website.

After trying Tofu and FreeOTP, I realized how good Raivo is. For some reason, Tofu doesn’t give an option to use FaceID to protect the app. And I don’t really like the design of FreeOTP. Tbh, I’m either gonna stay on Raivo or go to 2FAS (which isn’t the best since it collects Device IDs and uses cookies and analytics). But I guess Raivo does that now too. Are there any other suggestions?

I consider Proton Pass, but I may go back to Authy instead of using mircrosoft or Google Authenticator.

I’m using my 3 free authenticator things :slightly_frowning_face:

Aegis is number one in my book (at least I think, I’m an idiot so who knows). If you are talking about the thing where you have to type in numbers in addition to your password then yes Aegis gets a big two thumbs up from me

It is in my book too and i’d have proposed it too, but the author uses an iPhone, where Aegis is not available, sadly. Please, pay attention.

There is no problem as of now. But in the next update, we will have a real picture about its future.
However, if a company buys an app without a revenue model, then they should Monazite it in one way or another.

So far I saw the following recommendations in the privacy communities.
Tofu, freeOTP, 2FAS, Proton Pass and Bitwarden. For the last two you need subscription. As a paid member of proton, I am leaning towards using proton pass exclusively for 2FA.
2FAS also seems promising.
